Understanding Trauma & the Path to Healing

Trauma affects most people at some point, whether from a car accident, abuse, loss of a loved one, violence, war, or natural disaster. While many recover with time and support, others experience lasting effects like emotional pain, fear, or post-traumatic stress.

In these cases, the support and guidance of a therapist can be crucial to healing.

Common Trauma Symptoms

  • Avoidance: Steering clear of reminders of the trauma, such as specific places or situations

  • Re-experiencing: Intrusive thoughts, nightmares, or flashbacks

  • Hyperarousal: Heightened anger, irritability, hypervigilance, or reckless behavior

  • Negative Mood: Depression, numbness, loss of interest, and memory issues

Psychotherapy, especially Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), has proven highly effective in trauma recovery.

If these symptoms resonate with you or someone you know, I am here to help and encourage you to reach out.
